The most precious items of this collection are: 136 arrases, beautiful pieces of furniture, works of famous European painters etc. Three-aisled Gothic cathedral was built in 14th century. The cathedral is surrounded by chapels built in Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles. The Sigismund chapel with its gold-plated dome is the most beautiful Renaissance chapel on this side of the Alps. The basilica contains marble sarcophagi of Polish kings. In the Sigismund tower of the cathedral there is the biggest Polish bell – the Zygmunta bell (16th century, circumference – 8m).
